It is one of the objectives of ACTS "to assist in the development of theological libraries". An essential key to any good library must be the library staff. In 2001 for a beginning of this ministry, we were able to run two workshops for Library Staff training. Two librarians from the UK were able to join us as well as a Nigerian educator Dr Mrs Victoria Ladele. After Dr Ladele joined our staff, ACTS was enabled to further develop this ministry into a part-time Library school. However, due to funding difficulties for this position, we were not able to retain the services of Dr Ladele. However, we are thankful that with the help of Mr Warkani of TCNN Library we have been able to continue this work. Another help has been the coming of Mrs Doreen Hartland to TCNN. Mrs Hartland training and experience in library science, plus her skills as a teacher have been a great asset to ACTS. She has also worked with us in the encouragement of the Association of Theological Librarians.
Library staff made many positive comments at the end of contact sessions for our ACTS Library School. For example, some who held the title Librarian felt that now they were worthy to use the title, while before they were just book-dusters. ACTS is continuing to offer such training schools and fellowship conferences for Christian librarians. We hope to be able to offer other library services as soon as time and resources are available.
